This Week In Books Or Why I Didn't Think This Post Would Happen

This week was pretty under control when it came to book buying/books coming in the mail that is until this afternoon... I actually didn't think I had enough to post!

Monday: The Summer of Naked Swim Parties arrives from a bookmoocher.

Thursday: The Liar's Diary arrives from J. Kaye (I'll be reviewing this book for her site)

Friday: Got Breaking Dawn at the midnight release.

Saturday: Pop over to the library for a quick look where I spy on the for sale shelf, The Memory Keeper's Daughter and two V.C. Andrews books, with "holes" as Melissa Walker has talked about recently! In the mail comes Just Listen from a bookmoocher, and Garden Spells from Marie at the Boston Bibliophile, which I recently won and a postcard telling me that my copy of Violet In Private is ready for pickup at Borders! So I go back and get it! Then after getting my sister at work we stop over at the new used bookstore to check it out. The first time I went they didn't have much they had just opened. This time they had a lot more! I picked up Trudy, from a local press, and Laguna Cove, both YA books.

What did you buy this week? Did you buy Breaking Dawn? Did you have to fight someone for the last copy in the store?

  1. YES, I did get Breaking Dawn. I'm almostttt finished...I'm getting there. Should be done tonight or tomorrow (of course!) I'm loving it.

I also got Spirit by J.P. Hightman (is that it? I can't remember...) but yeah, I just got that at the bookstore. :)

Damn girl! That's an overload of books you've got there. On Wednesday I reaceived the three books I have to read and review for Elle Magazine's Readers prize program. I have to have them read and reviewed by Wed. August, 13th. I am also expecting some ARC's in the mail soon. I might be able to read some books on my TBR shelf that I bought throughout last month.
    Good luck and Happy Reading!

  5. Shooting Stars Mag- I'm about half way through with Breaking Dawn. I'm not sure how I feel about the plot. It's definitely not what I was expecting!

planetbooks-Ooh that sounds like a fun program! I've got a little stack of ARC's to go back to once I finish Breaking Dawn and Violet in Private. I couldn't put those off!

    J. Kaye- Do you use amazon prime? I usually go with the free shipping because I have way too many things to use. But I've heard good things about amazon prime. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Breaking Dawn, I'm about half way through now!

Lenore- I didn't plan to buy much except Breaking Dawn and Violet in Private but it tends to always just happen, it's horrible!!

Nope, it's just called Prime series. It's vampire romance.

  7. Ahh, the book. I see. I had not realized how much vampire lit there was until after I read Twilight, it's crazy!

I was wondering what shipping options you use for Amazon because I know you use it so much. Isn't the two-day UPS shipping called Amazon Prime?

OH! That's what you meant. No, I don't know about Amazon Prime. I use the free shipping. :) The only time I don't use it is if I can find a used (new) book for a few cents.

  9. Isn't it hilarious that they are both called Prime!!! Yeah I use the free shipping as well. I think it's something like 80 bucks a year for 2 day shipping for Amazon Prime. My dad just tried it recently, for something he needed ASAP, I guess you can get a trial. Most everything I buy falls under free shipping though so I'm fine with that! It's not like i'm at a loss for something to read. PS I'm at the half way point of Breaking Dawn and I think it's going to get a lot better just about now!

  10. I bought Breaking Dawn this weekend. The Barnes & Noble I went to had plenty of copies on Saturday, so no fighting necessary.

I know what you mean about the plot - it was a little unexpected. But I loved the book. I read all four in the past two weeks. I'm afraid I'll have Twilight withdrawl now!

  13. A- Oh my wow! That's a lot of reading. You'd like the anthology, A New Dawn, authors just writing about Twilight! I've got the Host to read too. I see you're from Minneapolis. waves! I'm from around there(here) too!

Marie-18 wow! That's sweet of you to get them for him :) He so can't ever roll his eyes at you for having too many books if you're getting that many for him!

Ambeen- I've got about 250 pages to go. Every time I see a blog post about Breaking Dawn I cover it with my hand and click away, no spoilers!!!
